My second attempt for the Soap Challenge Club doesn’t belong in the laundry machine… oh happy day! I completely botched the first attempt, but I think this one is good enough to keep by the kitchen sink. I love this swirl and the tutorial from Great Cakes Soapworks was awesome. A few weeks ago I rendered tallow from scratch (that was an adventure!) and used it in this batch. I can’t wait to see how it works out!
Lessons learned:
Lightly tape DIY dividers to the top of the mold. I knocked them over several times…
Mix the titanium dioxide until it looks dispersed… then mix some more! I can see little white dots in some spots.
Wait longer before unmolding. I’m a klutz and kept banging up the corners.
Other soap notes:
Soap weight before cure – 1.9lbs (889g).
Colorant – activated charcoal to make grey & black, titanium dioxide to make white.
Scent – 2g spearmint essential oil and 4g eucalyptus essential oil. I think it smells nice… the spearmint dominates. I think I would use less next time.
Thanks for reading!
